Select Language:. Microsoft has released an update for Microsoft Outlook Bit Edition. This update provides the latest fixes to Microsoft Outlook Bit Edition. Additionally, this update contains stability and performance improvements. For information about the performance effect of high item counts and restricted views, go to the following Microsoft websites:. If you have nonessential add-ins installed, you may want to remove them from Outlook. To view the add-ins that are installed, follow these steps:.
Any other add-ins that are listed under COM add-ins were installed by other software. To determine whether the performance problem is caused by add-ins, run Outlook in Safe mode. To do this, press and hold Ctrl when you start Outlook. If the problem no longer occurs when Outlook is running in Safe mode, it is likely that one of the add-ins is causing the performance issue.
To troubleshoot possible problems that are caused by COM add-ins or Exchange Server client extensions, disable any items that you do not use regularly. Then, restart Outlook. If that does not resolve the problem, disable the remaining add-ins one by one. If that does not resolve the problem, the issue may not be caused by an add-in.
To disable COM add-ins, follow these steps:. Important Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry for restoration in case problems occur. Outlook stores certain data, such as email signatures and the spelling checker dictionary, in the AppData folder.
If the network is performing slowly, Outlook must wait for read and write operations to the AppData directory to finish. To disable redirection of the AppData directory, follow these steps:.
Start Registry Editor. To do this, use one of the following procedures, as appropriate for your version of Windows:.
Windows 10, Windows 8. Type regedit. In the Value data box, type the following path, and then click OK. By default, Outlook includes feature integration with Microsoft Skype for Business. If your antivirus software includes integration with Outlook, you may experience performance issues in Outlook.
In this case, you can disable all Outlook integration within the antivirus software. Or, you can disable any antivirus software add-ins that are installed in Outlook. Be aware that if you are connecting to an Exchange Server mailbox, your mailbox or your email messages are already being scanned by antivirus software on the server. You should check with the Exchange administrator to make sure that this is the case. On the Email tab, choose your account profile , and then choose Repair.
Note: The Repair option isn’t available if you’re using Outlook to connect to an Exchange account. Run Windows Update to make sure you have the latest updates for Outlook and other desktop apps for Microsoft Download and run the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant.
Fix your Outlook email connection by repairing your profile. Thank you for your input, Guruprasad. I have a lot of emails in my inbox on the webmail, but the only ones that downloaded were the ones in the Spam folder! And when I try to move them to my inbox, I’m told I don’t have the right permissions to do so! That did not solve the problem. I used an MSN account to try to send. Showed as sent; never came into Outlook. Did not check webmail, but since the other mail’s there, it is probably there, too.
It’s already too difficult to do anything at all with this version of Windows! What’s particularly frustrating is that I bought Office to use on this new computer so I could customize my signature blocks, etc. Important note: another IMAP account set up prior to today is receiving email – but not sending it. Any help would be appreciated!
Also, I’m wondering if the problem has to do anything with this syncing problem that Outlook seems to be having. Plus, perhaps the Win 8. I’m getting really nervous, especially reading about the syncing problem – which no technies seem to be addressing at all. Deepa Raj.
